OwnInk.com®

The first Internet-based, customized ink provider.

What is OwnInk ?

Your own, custom ink will personalize your signatures to prevent forgeries. It will be made of custom color (known to everybody) and safety components: magnetic salts, fluorescent pigments, chemical or biochemical substances. You will choose the color by mixing the 3 basic colors, and select the components that will make your ink unique and forgery-proof. Each safety component can be either public or private.

Why is OwnInk a safety ink?

Your signature and hand-writing can be easily forged, but if you use OwnInk will be absolutely unique. No one will know how to reproduce your special ink, unless they own a multimillion dollar lab. The documents written with your OwnInk will be virtually impossible to counterfeit.

All the components will be detectable for a chemist that knows the formula, but are almost impossible to detect for anyone that doesn't know it.

Identification of subtle amounts of unknown chemicals is a long and costly process. Only very well equipped labs can perform it. The more components we add to your formula, the higher the difficulty to reverse engineer the ink.  Components like DNA are 99,9999% safe.

Can I use OwnInk for pens or only for stamps?

At this time we only provide rubber stamping ink. We will soon offer other varieties, like fountain pen ink and printer cartridge ink. Those require more adjustment in terms of viscosity, protection of metallic parts and evaporation rate.

Why the Online Authentication is the unique feature of our safety OwnInk?

Your name and a scanned image of your OwnInk trace is kept online for years, for easy identification of your unique color. You choose which of the ink components are kept private or public. This choice usually applies to the components that can be detected by simple means, like black light for fluorescent dyes or dollar bill authenticity detectors that react to the magnetic ink.

Anyone can look in our web site under your name for your co lour and public components. The private components are only available to the owner of the OwnInk account, and to any competent Court official with a proper order.

For Whom?

OwnInk is for Lawyers, Public Notaries, Doctors, businessmen and anyone who signs contracts, checks, documents or autographs. Also, for anyone who wants to show his individuality and uniqueness. It also makes an excellent gift.

Banks, insurance companies, health organizations, professional associations and other institutions can purchase sets with 10 or more OwnInk kits to pass to their members or clients. This gives them enhanced control over signatures and lower cost.

Why to have your OwnInk?

How will people know that you are using your OwnInk and not any ink at hand?

Just use the stamp provided. It reads: "This document is signed / typed / stamped with custom, safety ink. Public components available at OwnInk.com. Private components available by Court order, Bank or Government request"

Does OwnInk contain DNA or other biologicals?

For public health protection, we do not include any biological's in the ink. However, we have synthetic molecules that offer the same variety and forgery-resistance as DNA.

Who keeps the OwnInk data?

For safety reasons, we deposit different data in different places. The chemistry lab has records under an internal code, the commercial office has the client names under a second internal code, the payment gateway service keeps the credit card data, and the National Registry for Intellectual Protection (only Argentina at this point) keeps the formulae and samples.

Does OwnInk provide Ink Identification Services?

At this time, we prefer to let impartial laboratories perform the validations. We can refer the customer to a number of accredited laboratories that will do it. Since we trust them, we can provide them the Restricted data that will make identification fast, certain and cheap. The account holder must authorize this release in the Online Account.

Why I cannot decide all of the components of my OwnInk?

The client can only decide on a few components that influence color and smell. The others are decided by our Chemistry lab, because we need to ensure that no duplicate inks are made, that the components are compatible, and that nobody orders two very similar inks that could be misleading. Secrecy is part of our service.

How would a laboratory verify the components of my OwnInk?

Some components are easily detected: color, scent. Others require an Rx, magnetic detection, ultraviolet illumination, microscope exam or other cheap and simple method. The more exclusive components need sofisticated chemistry determinations like chromatography or immunodetection.

Validation of an OwnInk knowing the public and restricted components can cost anywhere from $30 to $150. If the lab does not know the components, identification of all the components can easily cost $250,000 or more.

How common is signature forgery?

Attempted check fraud in US banks surpassed $4.3 billion in 2001, doubling for the 2nd time in 4 years (American Bankers Association Deposit Account Fraud Survey Report).

In adition to drawing-oriented scam artists, computer-savvy criminals have now scanners, graphic software, and check software, enabling them to easily falsifty any rubber stamp or signature, no matter how complicated.

Chemical-signature is a fast, wholy effective and simple method to defeat them.
